We are looking for motivated students and staff scientists at all levels with interests in computational biology and machine learning.

At the moment, positions of postdocotral fellow, undergraduate student are available.

We also welcome talented high school intern interested in doing independent research to compete for national science competitions, such as Regeneron Science Talent Search (RSTS) and International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).

Open Positions:

Los Angeles is an international multicultural city with great ethnic diversity and astonishing natural views. From Santa Monica Pier to San Fernando Valley, the city offers endless indoor and outdoor activities for newcomers and residents. The weather is unbeatable - enjoy the year-round warmth, sunshine, and breeze from the Pacific Ocean.

Postdoctoral Fellow

We are looking for postdoctoral fellows to work on the intersection of AI and genomics. Perspective directions include:

  • Deep learning approaches for genomics and multi-omics
  • Explainable AI application to genomics
  • Construction of biomedical and clinical knowledge graph

Ideal candidates should have Ph.D. or equivalent degrees in Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field at the expected start time.

Please email your CV, a brief description of your previous work and your future research interests to zijun.zhang@cshs.org, and arrange for at least two letters of recommendation to be available upon request.

Undergraduate Student

We welcome motivated undergraduates to join our team and develop skills in computational biology and biomedical data science. Many of the undergraduate mentees are admitted to and continued their research in top-notch graduate schools (Stanford, UCLA, Johns-Hopkins).

We are happy to design tailored project ideas for undergraduates to cultivate their research interests and learn practical statistics and programming skils, with opportunities to publish first-author papers in top journals, and present their work at prestigious international academic conferences.

Remote and hybrid working options are possible due to the computational nature of our work.

Please contact zijun.zhang@cshs.org to discuss research opportunities.

High-School Intern

We also welcome talented high school students to do an internship in the lab. We have had fruitful experiences in mentoring high-school students to compete in national science competitions (Top 40 National Finalists in Regeneron STS 2022).

The high school intern positions are currently filled. Please check back later.

We will design independent research projects for high-school interns aiming to compete in national science competitions, with opportunities to publish first-author papers in top journals, and present their own work at prestigious international academic conferences, similar to undergraduates and graduent students.

Remote and hybrid working options are possible due to the computational nature of our work.

Please contact zijun.zhang@cshs.org to discuss research opportunities.
